Larvikite

Larvikite

Larvikite is a feldspar-rich igneous rock found exclusively in the Oslo Rift near Larvik, Norway. Named after the town where discovered, it's Norway's national rock.

What makes Larvikite stunning is its blue-gray base with shimmering silver-blue reflections — a phenomenon called labradorescence. These flashes come from feldspar layers reflecting light at precise angles. Similar to labradorite but darker and more iridescent.

Larvikite is Mohs 6-6.5 — durable for earrings, pendants, necklaces, rings, and bracelets. Excellent for everyday wear. Clean with soft cloth and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.

Larvikite formed 298 million years ago from magma cooling in Earth's crust. Used as a dimension stone in major buildings worldwide, including the United Nations building.

All our Larvikite is natural and untreated, sourced from Norwegian quarries.
