Howlite

Howlite

Howlite is a calcium borosilicate hydroxide mineral discovered in 1868 by Canadian mineralogist Henry How in Nova Scotia. Its signature look is pure white to light grey with intricate black and grey veining in a web-like pattern — resembling polished marble. The unique veining makes each stone unmistakably one-of-a-kind.

Howlite is Mohs 3.5, making it best for earrings, pendants, and necklaces — not for rings or bracelets where daily wear and impact will damage it. It's porous, so it absorbs dyes readily (often dyed blue to imitate turquoise, but your beads are natural white).

All our Howlite is natural and untreated. The white you see is not enhanced, bleached, or dyed. Its calming veining and soft appearance make it a favorite for meditation and healing jewelry.
