Pyrite

Pyrite is one of the most striking stones we carry — that bold, metallic gold with its bright, mirror-like luster is unlike anything else in the mineral world. It's iron pyrite, an iron sulfide mineral, and its pale brass-yellow color gives it such a strong resemblance to gold that it earned the nickname "Fool's Gold" centuries ago. Its name comes from the Greek word "pyr" meaning fire — because pyrite creates sparks when struck forcefully by iron, a property humans put to good use for starting fires long before matches existed. Crystals typically form in cubes, and you can often see that cubic geometry subtly expressed even in rounded bead forms.
