Peridot is one of the few gemstones not formed in Earth's crust but rather deep within the planet's mantle, created under extreme heat and pressure before being brought to the surface through volcanic activity. This gem-quality form of olivine is sourced primarily from Arizona, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Egypt. Peridot's distinctive green hue — ranging from pure green to yellowish-green to olive tones — comes directly from iron in its crystal structure, which also gives each stone its unique character. Peridot beads display a luminous, almost otherworldly clarity with a soft inner glow that catches light beautifully. While peridot ranks 6.5–7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it durable for daily wear, it is moderately brittle and susceptible to sharp blows or sudden temperature changes. Peridot works excellently in earrings, pendants, and necklaces for everyday wear. For rings and bracelets, use protective settings (bezel or wire wrap) and wear with intention — avoid impact-heavy activities.
