Larimar

Larimar

Larimar is blue pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic's Bahoruco Mountains. Discovered in 1974, it's rare — soft pastel blue with white marble patterns.

Trace copper in volcanic basalt creates the color. Unique geological conditions exist in one location only. This rarity makes supply finite.

Larimar is Mohs 4.5-5 — best for earrings, pendants, and necklaces. Can be used in rings and bracelets with protective bezel or wire-wrap. Bracelets require careful wear. Avoid prong settings. Photosensitive — prolonged sunlight lightens color.

All our Larimar is natural, from the Dominican Republic. Fakes are common: dyed howlite, glass, plastic. Real Larimar has cloud-like patterns unique to each stone. Fake Larimar has uniform, repetitive patterns that look printed.

Clean with soft cloth and lukewarm water. Avoid harsh chemicals and extreme heat.
