Dalmatian Stone

Dalmatian Stone

Dalmatian Stone is one of those immediately recognizable and genuinely joyful stones — those bold black and brown spots on a creamy white base make it impossible not to smile. Named after its resemblance to the Dalmatian dog breed, it's actually not a true jasper despite being widely sold under that name. It's an igneous microcrystalline quartz with a mixture of other minerals creating the speckled look. It's primarily mined in Chihuahua, Mexico. With a Mohs hardness of around 6 it's slightly softer than quartz and jasper, making it easy to work with.
