Bloodstone

Bloodstone Chalcedony is one of the most storied gems in the ancient world — a deep forest-green chalcedony spattered with sharp, blood-red dots, as if flicked across the stone. It's also known as Heliotrope, a name from the Greek for "sun-turning," rooted in old beliefs about how the stone caught light.

The classic look is dark green with red iron-oxide flecks; you'll also see strands that lean more heavily red. Both are natural — the red comes from hematite, the green from chlorite and amphibole minerals within the chalcedony. Bloodstone Chalcedony is the traditional March birthstone.
