Tiffany stone is a rock composed primarily of fluorite with smaller amounts of opal, calcite, dolomite, quartz, chalcedony, bertrandite and other materials.  It is not named after the famous Tiffany & Co., but named after the mine owner's daughter, Tiffany.

Tiffany Stone is known for its beautiful purple to pale violet fluorite, usually with swirl patterns sometimes with small impurities conglomerate mineral of brecciated fluorite, and common white-beige opal.

Located from the Brush Wellman Mine, at Spor Mountain, Utah, it was founded in the 1960's for Beryllium, a metallic element. Beryllium is used in military, aerospace, and medical industries. Unfortunately, most of the Tiffany Stone is crushed in the mining process. The material is not commercially collected for semi-precious stone material. What is found is usually old stock that was brought out by the miners.

It has a relatively low hardness, ranging from 4 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively soft compared to other minerals. So, care should be taken when storing and wearing it.

This is a natural stone that has had no treatment other than cutting, drilling, and polishing.
