Freshwater shell are the shells of mussels, bivalve mollusks that live in lakes, rivers, and ponds. Common sources include mother-of-pearl, oyster shells, and wampum. Real shell beads are typically cool to the touch and display natural growth lines or subtle imperfections.
Capturing the true essence of the color of these beads is a struggle. Digital sensors often washout saturation and depth, making these vibrant beads look pale. The strands you receive will have more solid and cohesive color.
These beads are dyed with the introduction of coloring agent into the shell to give it new color, intensify present color or improve color uniformity.
