Aquamarine is a blue or cyan variety of beryl. Beryl includes emerald and morganite. The name Aquamarine means “sea water”. Natural, untreated aquamarine is transparent clear to blue, including bluish green. Many times, this stone is heat treated to be a deeper blue.

Aquamarine is found in Brazil, Colombia, Zambia, Madagascar, Malawi, Tanzania and Kenya.  In the United States, aquamarines can be found in Colorado, Wyoming, and Idaho.

Aquamarine is the Colorado’s state gemstone.

Hardness 7.5-8

The source of these beads is Brazil and they are cut, drilled and polished in China.

Heating beads is a very common form of enhancement and is used to affect desired alterations of color and/or clarity. Heating can also be used to lighten or darken a stone. Heat is one of the conditions that cause gems to form, whether in the ground or in a lab. Heating occurs during natural gem formation. But heating applied to the stone after gem formation is an enhancement.
