Agate is a common rock formation, consisting of chalcedony and quartz as its primary components, consisting of a wide variety of colors. Agates are primarily formed within volcanic and metamorphic rocks. Agate is sometimes called the earth’s rainbow because, in its various forms, the concentric bands in nature form nearly every color even a colorless form
Blue Lace Agate is a variety of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. It is usually banded in layers of mostly light blue, with stripes of brighter blues, whites, and even brown layers of color.
Blue Lace Agate was discovered in Namibia, however that mine is no longer in operation. Many Agates are available in abundance, but Blue Lace Agate is rare and becoming increasingly difficult to find. A few years ago, it was believed to have been almost completely mined out. However, there has been a recent discovery of the gems in Brazil, China, India and even some places in the United States.

This is a natural stone that has had no treatment other than cutting, and polishing.
