100 Strands of Freshwater Pearl Shell, Dyed

Freshwater pearl shells are the shells of mussels, bivalve mollusks that live in lakes, rivers, and ponds. These shells are the natural habitat of freshwater pearls, which are formed within the mantle tissue of the mussel. When an irritant enters the mussel, it secretes layers of nacre, a substance that makes up the shell and forms the pearl.

These beads are dyed with the introduction of coloring agent into a gemstone to give it new color, intensify present color or improve color uniformity.

Made in China.
