Non-magnetic synthetic hematite usually refers to one of two things: a lab-grown version of the natural mineral or a marketing term used in the jewelry industry to distinguish "real" looking stones from the popular "magnetic hematite" which isn't actually hematite at all.

The most important thing to know is that true hematite is naturally non-magnetic. "Magnetic Hematite" is actually a man-made ceramic called Hematine or Hemalyke. It is made of ground iron oxides and barium-strontium ferrites. It is highly magnetic and not chemically hematite. Non-Magnetic Synthetic Hematite is a term often used by jewelry sellers to clarify that their synthetic beads are a chemical match for real hematite and do not have the artificial magnetic pull of Hematine.
