A ruby is a pink to blood-red colored gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum (aluminum). Other varieties of gem-quality corundum are called sapphires. The word ruby comes from "ruber", Latin for red. The color of a ruby is due to the element chromium. Most rubies have a strong red color, although the precise color of rubies can range from blood-red to orange-red, purple-red, brown-red, or even a pink-red tone.
Hardness 9
The source of these beads is South Africa and they are cut, drilled and polished in China.
Lab-created gemstones are real gemstones, not synthetic imitations. They have the same chemical, optical and physical characteristics as stones dug from the ground. Crystals are grown in a lab for six to twelve months. They grow in an environment with heat and pressure that mimics the natural one for gemstones.

Stunning
The pictures don't do these beads justice. They look amazing in person and almost seem to glow in bright lighting. They glow under blacklight and appear to be genuine lab created ruby. The rubies are slightly translucent, but don't look muddy. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.
