The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, is a golden stone that is opaque, with a bright, metallic luster.  It is metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. This crystal typically forms in cubes.

Name Pyrite comes from the Greek work “pyr”, which means fire. That is because pyrite creates a spark when struck forcefully by iron. Most of the richest Pyrite deposits are found in Peru, Brazil, Spain, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Norway, Russia, Greece, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. In the United States is can be found in the United States from Colorado, Illinois, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Montana, Washington, and Missouri.

This is a natural stone that has had no treatment other than cutting, drilling, and polishing. 

The source of these beads is Brazil and they are cut, drilled and polished in China.
