Maligano Jasper is the name given to a recently discovered brecciated Jasper variety that was found in Indonesia in SE Asia around 2011-2012. Brecciated is a process where the stone has been broken up internally and cemented together with another stone, like Agate, which is a form of Chalcedony.
Maligano Jasper formed in ancient volcanic hot spring areas. It contains multiple colors of blue, red, orange, yellow, grey and beige with veins of a greyish Agate that filled the cavities. Because it was brecciated, it has beautiful patterns and can show river type scenes. Every piece can be considered a unique work of art.
Hardness 6.5-7
This is a natural stone that has had no treatment other than cutting, drilling and polishing.
