Hemimorphite is a semi-precious gemstone and zinc ore mineral with a unique crystal shape. The name Hemimorphite comes from the Greek words hemi, meaning "half", and morph, meaning "shape" As crystals, Hemimorphite shows different terminations at each end.
Hemimorphite can be white, beige, light brown, blue, yellow, or green. It's found in veins and beds in limestone, and in zinc mines. Hemimorphite is found in many locations around the world, including the United States, Mexico, China, and Australia. Hemimorphite was discovered in Romania in 1853.
It has a relatively low hardness, ranging from 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale, making it relatively soft compared to other minerals. So, care should be taken when storing and wearing it.
This is a natural stone that has had no treatment other than cutting, drilling, and polishing.
With side drilling, the hole is not visible on the front of the stone and the pendant can easily be hung on any beading wire. In most cases, Side Drilled is a little thicker than other pendants.
