Lemon Chrysoprase is a trade name that has become so entrenched in our industry, it is difficult to correct. It should be called Citron or Lemon Magnesite. “Lemon Chrysoprase is the yellow-green variety of a mineral called magnesite (magnesium carbonate) with nickel content. Magnesite is often found near true chrysoprase. “Lemon Chrysoprase” is mainly found in Australia.

In Western Australia most magnesite is white, however in certain locations the presence of nickel is responsible for the pleasing green color found in "Lemon Chrysoprase". The highest grade of this stone has a wonderful lemon and lime color with only small amounts of brown matrix.

Hardness 6.5-7

This is a natural stone that has had no treatment other than cutting, drilling, and polishing. 

The source of these beads is South Africa and they are cut, drilled and polished in China.
