Mother of Pearl, MOP, sometimes known as Trocha Shell. They are created from a composite material called Nacre produced by some mollusks, such as oysters. It also makes up the outer coating of pearls. It is strong, resilient, and iridescent.  Have you ever noticed the luster inside of an oyster shell?

Mother of Pearl shell beads are beautiful with a wonderful shiny luster. The golden yellow beads are natural, and the white ones are bleached.

This Yellow Shell (MOP) is natural and not been treated.

These beads were cut, drilled and polished in China.
